LOTUS ROOTS YOGA & ART WELLNESS CENTER
The Lotus Roots Wellness Center, located in Bend, Oregon, blends the physical and emotional movement of art and yoga together. The building was designed for a client who just started a new small business who has a high passion for nature, yoga, and art. There will be a designated yoga studio, art studio, reception/lounge area, cork donation corner, small gift shop, conference room, break room, storage and restrooms/locker room. This wellness center will be located on the corner of NW Harmon Blvd and NW Galveston Ave, outlooking to Mirror Pond.
DESIGN CONCEPT:
Lotus Roots Yoga & Art Wellness Center is a mixed-use building for individual and community involvement. It offers a tranquil yoga studio and inspiring art making spaces. It is designed for a comfortable and flowing visual experience. The space will focus on soft colors and modern furniture. These assets will help the clients to strengthen their physical and emotional health.
PROJECT GOALS:
FUNCTIONAL GOALS:
- Cork donation corner to contribute to the sustainable side of their mission
- Reception/Lounge area in middle to encourage interaction between users
- Locker room /restroom towards the back of the building for a private feeling
- Yoga room to be slightly warmer than the rest of the building to allow the body to feel relaxed
- Main egress door from reception/lounge area – however, each room will have access to the
outdoors as part of positive mental health improvement
AESTHETIC GOALS:
- The Yoga Studio will be bring calmness, look soft, and feel inviting
- The Art Studio will feel inspiring, look bright, and bring creativity
- The Reception/Lounge area will bring interaction, feel welcoming and look open
- The Locker rooms will look clean, feel confidential and bring privacy
- The entire building will entail sustainability, crispness to the spaces and harmonious between the rooms
AESTHETIC GOALS:
- Encourage foot traffic and biking by providing bicycle rack (LEED)
- Optimize energy performance through energy panels and natural day light (LBC)
- Create superior quality indoor air in the building after construction and during occupancy through
the LEED Flush-out method (LEED)
- Diminish concentrations of chemical contaminants that can damage air quality, human health,
productivity, and the environment. (LEED) (LBC)
- Realign water and to redefine “waste” in the built environment so that water is respected as a precious resource
